Pharmacological effect: Prozac contains a substance fluoxetine. It takes part of a group of SSRI antidepressants. This medication influences on the chemicals in the brain which are disturbed in people with psychic disorders.

Usage: Prozac is used in treatment of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, bulimia, premenstrual syndrome and panic attacks. This medication increases your mood, appetite, sleep and daily function.

Aftereffect: Call the doctor and stop using Prozac if you have the following adverse effects: restlessness, skin irritations, hives, chills, fever, joint aches, sweats, confusion, diarrhea, anxiety, dry mouth, headache, irregular heartbeat and sweating.

How to administer (optionally): The initial dosage is one capsule per day. After 3 or 4 weeks the doctor may increase the dosage till 3 capsules per day. Take the drug every day at the same time regardless of food.
